I was told back in the late 70's that having no windows was an idea to help protect the halls when the big A comes. People will not be able
to destroy the hall as easily.
when i active, kh had windows.
the classier one had glass walls.
i notice as i go about urban areas that they no longer have windows.

i just heard the sad news that a very loving and kind elder for the congregation that i belonged to for 15 years just died from a heart attack.
he was someone that i had great admiration and deep respect for, even now that i'm out from the jws.
he was my mentor and an inspiration to me as an elder, and in many ways he showed me the contradictions of the wts, he was a breath of fresh air within a cult.
I am Da'ed and just recently attended the funeral of an old-time witness that I knew for years. I was really worried about what would happen, but the thoughts were way worse than the reality.
My suggestion is to send flowers, or donate to a charity in his name, and attend the memorial.
(Your presence will make a big statement to all of the jw's about the real condition of your heart, and mind)
relax, things will work out fine
I googled it and this came up :

even with a polite da letter, sometimes you won't be left alone to go your way in peace.
dave brown recently posted a series of letters (6.3 mb pdf file) related to his leaving the encanto, az congregation in 1980. it starts with his letter of disassociation, then a letter he received telling him he'd been disfellowshipped in absentia, written to him more than five months after his da letter, and more than a month after the announcement to the congregation (we thought you should be the last to know!).
it continues with his reply to the congregation elders, and eventually to fred franz and the rest of the governing body.
"Wasn't it all a fun trip through crazyland"
wow,,, that was a really deep, disturbingly true comment !!!
i'm from the south los angeles area and i was wondring who were the '''star'' elders, ministerial servants, pioneers, in your hometown or area?
they could be good or bad too..
yes, this is the keith that I know, he was an elder in crystal Lake for several years, he was part of a really rockin' band back then. They would play
alot of the witness weddings. When I got married, he was really offended that we did not use his band. ( It was way too much $$$$$ for us.)
Then a year or two later he moved, last time I spoke to him he was attending the Palatine Ill. hall.
His Mom was sick, and she died oh about 8 years ago I believe. His wife Mary is one of the nicest people !
But as an elder, Keith was uber - focused on everybody doing the absolute most in service, if a family had kids, or the wife got pregnant, he had no interest in them outside of the required elder attention directed from bethel. The elders loved him, because he didn't care what anybody said, he was completely focused on things attached to pioneering.
I will tell you, that the funniest story that I ever heard from any jw came from him :
He was working on a painting crew painting some newly constructed condominiums. The night before he had eaten some food that did not agree with him, so he was worried that he was going to be sick. well that happened!
He ran into the nearest bathroom, and had some pretty severe and bad smelling diarrhea. Afterwards he noticed that the water was not connected to the toilet yet. As he was thinking about what to do, he heard voices,,, it seems that someone was coming in the front door to look at the unit. .
(think of Jeff Daniels in Dumb and Dumber)
He pulled up his pants, and snuck out the open back door, rejoining the paint crew.
About fifteen minutes later, the real estate agent came out of the back door, and she yelled, " is their a keith Malkovich around here?
Sheepishly he went up hoping that she did not go into the bathroom, and how in the world did she know his name?
When he got off of the ladder, she was holding his wallet in the air,,,,,,,,,, it seems that it fell out of his pants when he rushed to get out of there !
Mary on the other hand was always friendly, and supportive to everyone, and she really did not seem to be cut from the same cloth as Keith was.
i woke up today a right grumpy basket case.... not a good day for the jehovah's witness to call on me to do there usual shepherding call, bringing me the usual mags of shite!
i stood there on the doorstep in my pj's, care free and all fired up.
i was asked how i was doing & then informed that they had my latest mags.
YO sleeping beauty. you got the eye of the tiger !
me and my hubby went to town today to do a little shopping.
we stopped at a little place we like for lunch.
part way through our meal two ladies sat down in the booth next to us.
great story

They were superstars in their own delusional little world :
jeff renfroe / mike penkava / dave redmann / keith milkovich
while reading the last post about light bulb moments, i thought of something that once really impressed me as a witness.. .
every once in a while at the ca /da / or service meeting a part would pop up about how the witnesses would run into a dissinterested person.. perhaps this person would yell, threaten, or just be plain mean.
but the part that always was made was how if this worldly person used the name jehovah.

in their tirade this was a good thing,,,, you see ? they ACTUALLY recognized God, and us as a part of him !
This little thing would always be at the forefront if we ran into a rude person, one certain brother would always ask, "did he mention the name jehovah"?
as if this was a badge of honor.
Fast forward to the present day, we as ex - jw's sometimes run into a current jw. Do you use the name "jehovah" at all when talking to them,, or perhaps
(what I have done, with this situation in mind) and ask if they are still going door to door selling the watchtower magazine for the wtbts ?
